ハーフドーム登頂は10月15日まで
今シーズンのハーフドーム登頂は10月15日までと発表されました。

The Half Dome cables are scheduled to be dismantled for the season the week of October 15th. A crew will move to
Little Yosemite Valley on Monday, October 15th and will dismantle the cables/poles on Tuesday October 16th. The trail
to the top of Half Dome will be closed at the base of the cables during the dismantling operation. For the safety of the
crew and public, if a major winter storm is forecasted prior to October 15th, the cables will be dismantled prior to the

三角点：Glacier Point
Glacier Pointの三角点マーカーが、まさにGPの先端部(写真上：下部の岩の上に見える円盤)にありました。マーカー（写真下）には標高や、設置年月(1905年7月11日)などが書かれています。
USGSの資料(下)によれば、最初に測量をしたのは1905年(Urquhart氏)ですが、1956年に”Recover”されたと書いてあります。これは1956年にタブレットが埋められたことを意味するのでしょうか。此処からEagle Point(現在のEagle Peak、Three Brothersの最高峰)、Clouds Restへの方位は、それぞれ295度6分23秒、61度1分1秒だそうです。
マーカーのレプリカは、ここでまだ取り扱っているようです。
ハーフドームで転落事故
NPSによるとハーフドームの頂上へのワイヤーケーブル部分で16日土曜日の午後に転落事故があったようです。
「のはら・ひろふみ」さんという日本人の方が亡くなられたようで、同行者が4名おられたようです。
詳細は不明ですが、ご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。

Hiker visiting from Japan falls to his death scaling Half Dome
A 37-year-old man died Saturday afternoon while hiking Half Dome in Yosemite National Park with four friends, a park spokeswoman said. Hirofumi Nohara of Japan fell about 300 feet to his death while hiking a section of the rock that is equipped with cables, spokeswoman Adrienne Freeman said Sunday. It’s not clear why or how Nohara fell, Freeman said. Freeman said Nohara, who was in the United States on a work visa, was about two-thirds of the way up the cables, which line the last 400 feet to the summit. (FresnoBee – 6/18/07)
